Survived the Thanksgiving Holiday without any major mishap. Ended up hosting 10 people 2 cancelled the day of. There was the traditional Roast Turkey with Sausage & Sage Stuffing, Sweet Potatoes (Yams), Mashed Potatoes, Turnips, Sweet Peas, Salad, Smokey Bean and Sausage Soup, French bread and Cranberry Sauce. Dessert was, homemade WW pumpkin loaf, Low Fat Apple Crisp with Vanilla Ice cream for those not on a diet, and a friend brought a Lemon cello Cake.
By the time all was said and done it took a total of 12 hours from prep to finish. I didn’t end up eating too much thank god, all due to the fact that I was trying to keep the masses satisfied. No booze for me either as I’m on meds for the back and headaches. Tried a small bit of the apple crisp less the ice cream. Mostly apples and not much crisp, recipe was from a Canadian Dietitians cookbook for healthy eating. I was very strict for the day saving the major of my options for the evening meal. I realize I am supposed to eat more regularly but on special occasions one must make the necessary adjustments. So I would consider this weekend a success.
That was Saturday, Sunday Lola and I went for a nice walk. The sun was shining and the weather has definitely turned to fall. I have to start layering up to go out now, how sad is that! Did all the housework, had a late lunch (leftover turkey of course). The watched “Knocked Up”; this was touted as being hilarious. Neither DH nor I found it the least bit funny, however we stuck it out to the end.
Holiday Monday, found me early in the morning watching the “Tudors”, a programmed I Tivo’d as DH went off to work. Must admit I love Elizabethan stories so I have give this program two thumbs up. When DD woke up we took Ms Lola out for a nice long walk, the remainder of the day was spent relaxing at home. Voila the weekend was over, I’m so glad we had our celebration the first day it made the the weekend more enjoyable.
