One More Week

Just when things seem to be all caught up I get thrown a little surprise project. I'm really hoping yesterdays little bundle of joy is the end of the surprises till after the holidays. At least its Friday and in a few more hours I can leave it all behind.

This weekend I'll be heading off to the Mall with everyone else in Montreal to do my Christmas shopping. Its not like I can procrastinate anymore. Well its not 100% all my fault, if people told me what they wanted (which I'm still waiting to hear BTW) it would have been bought and wrapped under the tree. I started asking this question way back in October he's still pondering the issue. As for the other people on the list, DH is a strong believer in paying in cash so I'm waiting on him to hand it over. He's an even bigger procrastinator than myself.

Besides shopping I believe DH made arrangements for friends to stop by on Saturday. So I will be putting on my Happy Hostess Hat. Sunday guests arrive for a few days of shopping in the big city. I'm hoping that I might be able to squeeze some time off and hang out with them, but will have to wait and see.

That should pretty much take care of the weekend. Wish me luck conquering the crowds. Take care and have fun.

Not Going To Make It

Through the day. Don't know how it is possible to be so exhausted at the beginning of the day. Even the guilt factor is not helping me function today. All I can think about is getting warm and curling up some place comfy.

All systems are on hold.

Mother Nature Takes Her Revenge

It just won't stop storming, enough already! This was pretty much the scene on the roads this morning, actually it has been like this for the better part of a week. Yesterdays drive home proved very adventurous with the tracker trailer in front of me slip sliding away and I was doing the same thing right behind. I stopped to drop of the mail in the box and had to climb over the snow bank and a car that was parked that's when I noticed someone had slid into his car a given him a good ding and a flat tire and drove away. Surprise!!

It was still storming on the drive back to work this morning and the roads were still no better, maybe worse. It was exercise in patience with tracker trailers jackknifed and others struggling to get up the incline of the overpass. Its supposed to snow throughout the day and another storm is on the way for tomorrow. Dear Mother Nature what have we done to upset you so much?

Of course the girls canceled yesterday supper, we will attempt again tomorrow night. I not to hopeful that it will work out. With all this bad weather it would be the perfect time to go to the mall and get the Christmas shopping done. I haven't made any progress on that at all. Somethings never change!

For now I get to watch the snow fall from my desk and build up my reserves for the drive home. Hows your day going?

Blah For Monday

The weekend went as expected. We partied on Friday and Saturday, Sunday was spent with family and we put up the Christmas tree. To tell you the truth I could have used a few more days on the weekend, but maybe sitting at my desk is more relaxing and better for my health.

The partying continues tonight with the girls for our final gathering of the year. Thankfully I managed to get all my treats made, now I just have to box them. Hopefully they will enjoy them. Supper is prepped for DH and just has to be popped in the oven so there are no more worries about the kitchen for today.

Hopefully they won't chicken out because it looks like we are in for more foul weather. It froze rain on Friday night, just enough to bugger up the roads. Saturday we had a few sprinkles on snow, Sunday it stormed a bit then turned back to rain. Today they announced that another big dumping of about 15 cm is on the way sometime today. The temperatures are supposed to be heading back down into the -20's. Makes you wonder why any body wants to live here. Winter hasn't officially arrived and I've already had my fill.

That's Monday in a nutshell, better get back to work.

T'is The Season

Tonight kicks off the Christmas party season. Its a bit early but people are starting to pack up and head out of town before the mad rush. Wish I was packing off and heading somewhere myself, but alas no such luck. Going to miss not being able to celebrate our grandson's first Christmas. I'm sure it will be just a difficult for them to be on their own. Everyone will have to make the best out of where they are.

Boy oh boy does it ever feel like the North Pole out there. The past two days have been in the deep freeze portion of the thermometer. The dreaded red light of death has come on for the furnace indicating that we are now pay double the dollars for all energy consumed. Don't worry its not supposed to last too long, another snow storm is on the way for sometime this weekend and that usually means the temperature goes up.

That's all the excitement for these parts. So if you are out there partying this weekend remember to be safe, no drinking and driving folks. Keep well.

Enjoying The Day

I've had a few days sans the boss man and it was delightful. That all comes to an end today as he's heading on back this way. Can hardly wait to start my next project.....NOT. I've really needed this break to recoup from last week. I can't handle high pressured days anymore or maybe I should say I just don't want to work under duress.

Its also been nice just going home and not having to worry about what's for supper. I like to keep it simple when I am solo, nothing too work intensive; eggs are the best. I made some turkey chili for supper Monday and have been bringing the leftovers for lunch all week, and that doesn't bother be in the least. I've also managed to crack out two treats for the Christmas give away, well three if you count the fruitcakes I made a few weeks ago. I'd like nothing better than to preserve this peaceful feeling.

The weekend is looking busy. Friends have arrived for overseas and I'm pretty sure they will be passing by for a visit. Other friends are leaving on Christmas holidays and have organized a dinner this Friday night. The tree needs to be setup and the house decorated. I have house guests that will be arriving next week for a few days of shopping and celebration.

There's lots of fun things to look forward to over the next few weeks. Hope your days are filled with much laughter and good times.

Let The Clean-up Begin

Finally after two days of snow the sun has come out. But don't let that little ball of sunshine fool you it's still flipping cold, supposed to be -18C with the windchill according to the weatherman. Got home yesterday to discover our street had not been cleaned, I can live with that. But neither was the driveway. I parked on the street having faith that the cleaning service would show up and take care of it as according to our contract. I had to leave and go visit with Dad but when I returned it still had not been cleared. Called the company to discover that they were closed for the day and left a nasty message then proceeded to shovel my way into the driveway. We are forbidden to park on the street over night and will be ticketed. Since there was no other choice I bit the bullet and swore my way though it.

There service was less than stellar last year and I told DH not to sign up with them again. Unfortunately he believed their pitch that this year all would go well. Of course DH is not here this week to deal with the problem, lucky me. All in all we got around 40 cm. Good news is that there's another storm coming just in time for the weekend. Traffic was/is still bad but I managed to make it here in under 1 hour.

Since I'm solo the week I decided to take advantage of my free time and start prepping my Christmas goodies give away. I have to have them ready for next Monday, the girls always have one last gathering before the holidays and that's when I usually give them a treat box.

Although I don't talk about weigh loss much I haven't given up. I'm still trying but without much success. Plan for the holidays is not to gain, afterwards I'm hoping to find my resolve and get it done. There's that nagging feeling of failure that another year is coming to an end and this problem is still troubling me. I really need to put those negative feels away and just start believing that all is possible.

Right Back At It

Here we go folks the first storm of the winter season. My 8 km drive to work took 1:40 where as it can usually be done in 20-30 minutes depending on the traffic. Not sure what the hold up was, other than the snow and its not like we aren't use to it. Looks like we got 15-20cm so far, and its still going. The snowplows seem to be hiding out along with the salt trucks, guess the city is hoping that the traffic just mushes down all the snow and that they won't have too much work to do.

That's quite a shift from last weeks sunny and warm weather. I'm glad to be back at my desk. Actually we arrived around 1 am last Friday and of course I was at my desk as usual the next day. Spent the better part of the weekend trying to do absolutely nothing. It was a tough long week. The booth never made it so we improvised. Things did not go smoothly and we seemed to be rushing all the time. The only good thing was that we did meet many good contacts so it wasn't a total loss. There was no down time and standing on your feet all day is tough. Traveling for work is not fun. Of course there's lots of clean up to do from missing a week at the office. The boss is lining up another project for me (now imagine me rolling my eyes).

Looks like I will be rushing my way through the end of this year. I keep imagining peace and tranquility, lets hope that it materializes soon.
